This stunning lusterware cup presents a little but of a mystery (although thats not so rare, I do find mysteries everywhere). This is one of two cups produced by Gustavsberg around the same time, both called Kina but which present very differently (see pictures). It's on a model which was a precursor to the famous model A, the only difference being that the handle is very slightly thicker and curved round more where it meets the cup.

The non lusterware version of Kina is suspiciously similar to the pattern Pagod designed originally for Gefle by Willy Wesselý - who worked as a pattern designer and decorator there just after WW1...

PS. At more or less the same time Rörstand also offered up a lusterware coffee cup called 'Japan'... Obviously this was a complete coincidence.
