Arcopal | Harlequin Opalescent Glass Teaset | pastel set of 6

A truly showstopping Harlequin teaset of six original vintage Arcopal glass cups and saucers, from the end of the 1950s. At the time, a tea set made of glass was unheard of but then Arcopal developed a line of tableware in treated glass (now unromantically known as pyrex!) and thus became a world pioneer - since glass - usually very breakable - became tough and durable with their techniques. Each cup is a different shade of pastel, which shimmers and deepens with the light, and each has a gold rim (some rims are more intact than others!). The colours also appear to change depending on what they contain since they are transluscent. This set has some wear on the colour in the pink cup, which is more or less visible according to the tilt. Otherwise just gorgeous and a must have for anyone interested in iconic vintage drinkware.
