Retro, primitive yet elegant 1970s Chamotte tea/coffee pot & matching cups.

I've been looking at Staffan Bengt Arne Sunnegårdh lately (born 2 June 1941, educated at Konstfack in Stockholm 1968-70).His work was extremely functional, sometimes appearing almost primitive & warrior-like & was created in heavy stoneware. This piece looks like it was made in Chamotte (stoneware mixed with fired oven proof ceramics resulting in a grainy rustic look).

Yet in contrast to the material, almost all the pieces of work I've seen by him, feature some kind of beautiful long arched spout or neck, reminiscent of ancient Viking long boats with their beautiful long dragon necks. In fact his work is very Viking-esque, practical, tough but at the same time elegant and regal.  Staffan's work is not very rare, however that he made a teapot, is very much so. He is more famous for vases which can sell for a fair amount at auction. In fact this is the only teapot, or dining ware I can find by him at all, which means its pretty special. There are two rather marvellous matching cups and saucers which go with this listing. They are just as rustic and have beautiful flat swirly saucers. There is a chip inside the coffee pot rim which is unnoticeable with the lid on, but impacts the marketable value of the pot (hence the reduced price). See the photos before you decide to buy.
