Gaudi | Art Modern | Nouveau-Deco Coffee Pot | Barcelona

I'm so happy to have acquired my latest find which expands Chinamania's art nouveau section with a little essential Gaudi spice (& if you haven't yet heard of Antoni Gaudi you're in for a treat).

The very definition of Art Nouveau was to disobey the traditional rules of realism, which is why Art Nouveau varies so much from artist to artist and country to country (and also probably why Gaudi and Dali - who pushed the envelope - had a bit of a bromance). 

This is Art Nouveau-deco Catalan style. A sleek coffee post displaying one of Gaudi's famous mosaic murals, with his signature printed just above it. 

This isn't an expensive vintage piece, but it certainly makes for a wonderful present (to myself right now!) maybe for someone who loves vibrant mediterranean mosaics as opposed to stunning but ultimately placid, pastels or the beautifully unrealistic, yet vacant faces of the ladies from Parisian cabarets...
