This is an exceedingly delicious example of Art Nouveau Ohme porcelain, a cup and saucer with Carmen written on the bottom, dating from the 1920s (I havent yet found any Ohme from the 19th century but I live in hope!). The cup has a scalloped foot to match the scalloped saucer; the gilt and the pattern are both remarkably intact. No chips or cracks.Cup dimension: 8.5cm Saucer dimension: 14cm

A little background:Hermann Ohme factory was located in Niedersalzbrunn, Silesia, Germany now the town of Walbrzych in Western Poland. Sadly this factory went out of business in 1928. Why? Not because its products weren't valued, but because in 1930, the world financial crisis occurred and Ohme, who'd exclusively focused on exports, got caught in the downward spiral. However, that also means there's a little bit of mystique around Ohme porcelain...no one is quite certain how many patterns were produced, which means there is always the potential for exciting new discoveries around the corner.
