Sometimes I think Stig Lindberg was having a laugh at us all by repeating his designs in different guises. His most famous design - Bersa - features green leaves and this one not much different... smaller green leaves in the shape of a garland. Often with these designs its only that he made tiny modifications, but the simpler they got, the more people spent money on them (and we're still doing it today!).But what if it wasn't the design itself, but its ability to tap into the Swedish psyche? Swedish folk are passionate about spring, and leaves (given half the year is spent in the dark cold) and the crowning of the summer celebration (where everyone wears garlands around their heads) - midsummer. So maybe it wasnt the design per se, even though its very pretty... but more about the joy it evoked.

About Festong (1962-71, chrome-printed decor on model SA, LO, LF, LH)At first, Festong was an exclusive coffee set on the LO model, but was soon produced on the LH model with serving dishes and sauce pots. It never picked up sales and eventually most parts were taken out of production, and only a coffee cup (on the SA model - this one) with saucer and plate remained. The stamp indicates it was produced before 1970.
