Gustavsberg | Plateau (blå) | Hennix | SA-1 | Lindberg

It is my utter pleasure to introduce Plateau by Margareta Hennix to you.

If you've spent anytime around my shop, you'll have noticed that I'm a huge fan of Hennix. She's an artist who has a sense of humour and loves experimenting with her various media. When - allegedly - Gustavsberg claimed that making an angled cup would be too expensive, Hennix went ahead and created her design Viggen which uses two different shades of brown to create a similar effect through optical illusion (go ahead and take a look... I'll wait). And succeeded.

In this one she does the same thing (it's like a magic eye painting I think, you have to squint slightly to see it); the coloured squares are akin to raised platforms (or indeed plateau...) but are of course flat and accentuated with 3 lines of varying width to create the illusion...

This cup comes in red or blue, although the saucers are the same for both. They're in great condition. I've put them in separate listings (but if you buy them together you get a bundle deal!) This is for the blue version.
