This listing is for a hot water jug which accompanies the amazing Ohme coffee cups in another listing, with characteristic Nouveau relief and artful flowing floral lines. The stamp dates these this jug to the era between 1882 and 1900; my oldest Ohme yet.

Often coffee sets came with two jugs, one for the milk and another larger one for hot water to top up the jug since coffee grounds were used twice. There is only one jug with this set, however it's way too large to be a milk jug (even if you can - of course - use it as one!)

You can find the listing for the matching cups and sugar bowl below. The set originally came with a coffee pot too, however the lid is sadly broken-if you're interested in this piece, please get in touch.

***

Hermann Ohme factory was located in Niedersalzbrunn, Silesia, Germany now the town of Walbrzych in Western Poland. Sadly this factory went out of business in 1928. Why? Not because its products weren't valued, but because in 1930, the world financial crisis occurred and Ohme, who'd exclusively focused on exports, got caught in the downward spiral. However, that also means there's a little bit of mystique around Ohme porcelain...no one is quite certain how many patterns were produced, which means there is always the potential for exciting new discoveries around the corner.
