No matter how we might understand the logic behind fads or trends with hindsight, the popularity of AU cups and the price they currently command is still difficult to understand.

• They're beautiful, in their sturdy and bold fashion which may be one reason.
• They're also scarce, which could be another.
• And Swedish minimalist design is peculiarly addictive in this ever increasingly complex world.

Maybe the worth of these cups the price we'd pay to return to simpler times?

This cup is called Etta (Etta is a name but also means number one in Swedish). She has a twin in brown called Brunetta.(Aside: I do love the bleedingly obvious but puntastic names.)

This is the AU teacup model by Arthur Percy.

Cup size Height 8cm Diameter 9.5cm

Saucer Diameter 15.5cm

It's in excellent condition, with no blemishes or stains. There is a very faint blue smudge on the handle but it is under glaze and obviously from the manufacturing process.
