It doesn't really matter where you put the onion pattern, it always looks good. But it does look especially fresh and crisp on the SA-1 model.This is Gustavsbergs version of the onion pattern, they called the Dresden pattern because Dresden is the town next to Meissen and the onion pattern was originally coined by them.

The Dresden cups I have for this listing came from an inherited estate and are in perfect crisp condition.
