This tea cup and saucer by Tuscan Bone China of England is detailed with an aristocratic handle, footed cup and roses both outside and on the inner rim (England's favourite - and national - flower!)

Tuscan china has a superb reputation; fine enough to be acquisition material for Wedgwood in 1967. They held the patent for a strong porcelain called metallized hotel china – so called because it was tough enough to be used as hotelware (which involved of course, a great deal of handling) and still resist chipping or cracking (which might explain the perfect condition of this cup). It’s vintage, though not antique, as it was produced after 1947 which is when the wording Bone China was added to the stamp at the bottom.

This pattern - called Charmaine - is one of their most celebrated and  the name "charmaine" comes from the Greek word for charm and joy. A beautiful name for a beautiful cup.

Cup diameter: 7.5cm
Cup height: 6cm
